Marrickville Public School Makes Music: A Star In The Sky

By

Marrickville Public School will celebrate Make Music Day 2019 on the morning of June 21st with a combined K-6 Choir and whole school debut performance of Star In The Sky: A Tribute To Richard Gill. This song has been composed by Colleen O’Connell – our K-6 music teacher – to celebrate the life and achievements of the great Australian music educator Richard Gill. The song has also been shared with other schools in our area, as well as with our ASEAN BRIDGE partner school Khamthieng Anussorn School in Thailand.

Instrumental ensembles including the Concert Band, Strings Ensemble and Recorder Ensemble will also play in support of the day, and we will be video recording the performances to share via Youtube.

We are also planning to share performances by the students of Khamthieng Anussorn School via video link later in the day (this will depend on bandwidth availability from Thailand on the day). They will also video record their performances to share via Youtube.

Coffs Harbour Library celebrates Make Music Day

Come along and celebrate MAKE MUSIC DAY at Coffs Harbour Library.

The Sawtell Ukulele Group will be coming along to celebrate Make Music Day with us in the Rigby House Forecourt. Get hands on and join us for some ukulele fun. The Library will also be launching our new collection of Ukuleles, available to be borrowed by library members.

In only three short years, the Sawtell Ukulele Group has grown to include 3 groups (Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced) and over 60 members. Known for its diverse repertoire, from the Beatles to the Sunnyboys; Nancy Sinatra to Lady Gaga; Lou Reed to Kiss – this is definitely not your average ukulele group. SUG perform regularly at aged care facilities, community events and festivals; have a monthly Jam at 63 First Ave in Sawtell; and warmly welcome new members.
