We’re kickstarting this day of music off by going back to the beginning. Harry Sdraulig’s ‘Hat-trick’ was one of the first pieces we recorded in lockdown to open our Chamber Sounds series. To date, it has been watched over 30,000 times! Here it is again in case you missed the world premiere the first time around.

The Man Who Visited Earth | Mancity Sirens

“The Man Who Visited The Earth” is any ET identity – visitor or saviour – whether a celebrity like David Bowie in a film or celebrated like Jesus in scriptures. They are the one we are drawn to or conjure up. Real to us, or not, the enigma remains: ‘Where are you?’ Our desire to consummate the wished-for relationship is ultimately unsatisfied.

Four Walls | Honey Sippers

A Honey Sipper’s  cover of the Cold Chisel Classic recorded at Cordeaux Dam NSW. The pandemic has led to some fairly creative recording locations and this piece was totally acoustic – taking advantage of the natural qualities of the space. Make Music Day will see us on the main street of Camden NSW, in the open air enjoying the beauty and freedom of the Camden locale.

Fisher’s Ghost Youth Orchestra takes the stage at Camden Civic Centre to present a program of beautiful music.  Featuring the dancers of the Macarthur Youth Ballet and local young pianist, Logan Chan.

Gonjrang Genjring | Zulfiqar,

Description: Gonjrang Genjring is my original composition, combining different progressive rhythms and beats from West Java Indonesia. Using a Genjring (West Javanese frame drum) and Kendrums (Kendang & Drumkit). This composition takes inspiration from the traditional ensemble music ‘Genjring Bonyok’. Kendrum is my invented style that is built from the sounds and rhythms between Kendang (Sundanese Drum) and the Drumkit.

Combined Choirs Concert | Bankstown Arts Centre

Description: Under the direction of Linda Marr, conductor of Bankstown World Music Choir, singers from all over Sydney came together to perform at Bankstown Arts Centre for Make Music Day.

The choirs come from far flung corners of Sydney but have a common love of singing and creating spine tingling harmony. The songs are ancient and new, traditional and composed – some written by Australian Aboriginal songwriters.

Choir members include: Annandale Singers, Bankstown World Music Choir, Simply Voices, Songs From Next Door and Sweet Tonic.

Mulwaree High School in Goulburn

M Funk is an ensemble of year 11 and 12 students from Mulwaree High School in Goulburn. They formed in 2017 as a group of year 7 and 8 students, and have remained together ever since to bring funky and upbeat tunes to audiences. They have played at ‘Specfest’ as part of the School Spectacular, and have also played in many community-based performances around the Southern Highlands. Sunday Morning was originally performed by American band ‘No Doubt’.
