The Young Ones – Happy Together

We’re a group from Sydney, Australia that call ourselves “The Young Ones”. We do guitar/ukulele jamming on Zoom weekly and in person once or twice monthly. We recorded this piece, “Happy Together” originally by The Turtles on Monday 17 April 2023 at a member’s residence in the suburb of Castlecrag in Sydney.

This is my tribute to Gordon Lightfoot. Such a beautiful song…

Ethan Kapitanow is a 15-year-old guitarist, bassist and songwriter from Camden in Sydney, Australia.
He began his musical journey by posting cover videos and performing local shows around Western Sydney, before turning his attention to original music with the release of his debut single, ‘Heading to the City’ which was released digitally on multiple streaming platforms in early 2022.

Ethan is currently working on his debut album, which he hopes to have out by early 2024.

An Egyptian/ Australian song writer and musician playing mainly folk music, as well as soul, christian, pop and some jazz.

Mirette has been performing for 10+ years. She also plays live music for the COCOS homeless community every week.

SAYGE is a not for profit organisation, with the purpose to develop and encourage Guitar Ensemble experience for young classical guitarists in South Australia through local community performances.

Chicken Rag was written by SAYGE tutor,  Marcus Kha specifically for the DreamBIG Gala Concert held at Adelaide Festival Theatre.

The Senior Youth  Ensemble from ARC Children’s & Youth Choir, based in Preston, Victoria, singing ‘Seasons of Love’.
ARC is a community arts organisation that established this choir to provide an affordable and quality training choir for young people in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

15 year old Logan Chan began his piano lessons at the age of five. He has won many awards in eisteddfods nationally and in international competitions. These include Sydney Eisteddfods Piano Competition, Steinway Youth Piano Competition, American Music Talent Competition, New Talent British International Youth Music Competition, Crescendo the Little Mozarts International Competition and more between 2020 – 2023.

The 4 ensembles under South West Sydney Orchestras are South West Sydney Beginner Strings, South West Sydney Intermediate Strings,  South West Sydney Philharmonic, and the new South West Sydney Youth Band.

They performed a new piece of music commissioned by SWSO and composed by Loreta Fin called ‘Rhyme Time for Strings’ and other works such as Brandenburg Concerto, Viva la Vida, and Stephen Chinn.

RCU (Redlands Coast Ukes) are a dynamic covers band based on the Redlands Coast near Brisbane. They were formed over 12 years ago as a community-based ukulele group united by a desire for music, fun and friendship. They now perform a varied and popular repertoire of hit songs from the sixties to now, incorporating great lead vocals and harmonies. Their range of instruments include all sizes of ukes, including solid-body electric featured on this piece, as well as cajon, congas and percussion.

A socially distanced performance of the “Birdland”. Written by Austrian musicians Joseph Zawinul and Jon Hendricks, Birdland was originally a fusion rock piece first recorded by the Austrian band “Weather Report”
