The Australian Music Association has been selected as one of just 24 organisations worldwise to receive a grant from The NAMM Foundation this year, for Make Music Australia. The NAMM Foundation supports vital programs that provide access to music-making opportunities across a variety of different communities and demographics.

“Programs supported by The NAMM Foundation, including Make Music Australia, advance music learning for people of all ages and abilities,” said Mary Luehrsen, Executive Director The NAMM Foundation, “Together, we advance a more musical world based on a shared belief that music is a force for good and connections in our world.”

The grants serve to underscore the Foundation’s mission to advance participation in music making and offer quality access to all people. As one of 24 recipients, Make Music Australia will utilize the resource to support the organization’s campaign to encourage, support, promote and facilitate music making across Australia, based around the global celebration on 21st June: Make Music Day.

“The Australian Music Association, representing the music products industry, has for decades worked towards getting more Australians making music, in schools, communities, everywhere,” said AMA Executive Officer, Alex Masso. “Make Music Australia is our campaign to promote and encourage people to participate in Make Music Day on 21st June, but also to celebrate the many forms of music making that Australians can participate in.”

Since 1994, the annual grant program has donated more than $18 million to domestic and international music education programs, scientific research, advocacy, and public service programs related to music-making. Along with private donations to The NAMM Foundation, grants are funded by NAMM Show activities supported by NAMM’s 15,000-member global companies.
