One Song Sing | Make Music Lake Macquarie
June 19, 2022 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
One Song Sing is the Hunter’s very own pop up choir in fabulous places. One song learned, sung and performed within an hour(ish).
Back in 2017 Jane & Mark from The Sum of the Parts (music) had a brainwave. Why not teach one song in one hour to hundreds of people, and film it? Inspired by their own ukestras and Canada’s Choir, Choir, Choir, the idea of a monthly instant community choir became insanely popular with 100s of people in the Newcastle area. Three years of bliss. And then …
… singing joyously with hundreds of others became a bad COVID idea: but are we there yet? Are we now done with the Spicy Cough?
We think YES! It is time to triumphantly return to singing in public, in the most special of outdoor places – the brand new MAP mima on the Lake Macquarie / Cockle Creek as part of the Dobell Festival and celebrating National Make Music Day.
For this special return we are going to overindulge ourselves on the natural anti-depressant of singing a classic 70s/80s disco/funk anthem, which will build beautifully upon a great One Song Sing legacy of Jane’s well arranged anthems (Milky Way, Throw Your Arms, Burn Your Name, Gravy) sung by 3/4/5/800 people together in the Hunter.
We want people of all ages and singing abilities to sing one song. Together. Arranged for you by The Sum of the Parts and proudly sponsored and produced by Lake Macquarie City Council.
