MUSIC PEOPLE – LIVE from Newcastle, NSW

In 2020 our musicians faced a challenging year, with our Australian music industry reduced to 4% of its former capacity. In response to this, a small team of passionate music-lovers from Newcastle NSW broadcast a live music television series called MUSIC PEOPLE, showcasing a diverse pallet of well-known and unknown acts, ensuring all 140 musicians who performed throughout the series were paid.

Furthermore, while other music industry job opportunities were diminishing, MUSIC PEOPLE employed sound operators, lighting techs, camera operators and other technical producers to create this live music offering. When we were all told to stay at home, MUSIC PEOPLE livestreamed all 12 episodes to multiple online communities simultaneously, reaching audiences across the globe. Finally, when restrictions started to ease, MUSIC PEOPLE moved our show to one of Newcastle’s biggest live music rooms to safely cater to a live audience.

To celebrate Make Music Day 2021, MUSIC PEOPLE are livestreaming the first 8 episodes of the MUSIC PEOPLE series back-to-back from 4pm until Midnight via our Facebook Page, ‘Music People Live’. Episodes 1 to 4 were produced live at Sawtooth Studios in Newcastle. Episodes 5 – 8 were produced live from Newcastle’s Civic Theatre.
