Care Packages for Ensemble Offspring

By

Join the famous art music ensemble Ensemble Offspring for an innovative online LIVE STREAM – SUNDAY JUNE 21st @ 6pm: www.hibernationfestival.com.

Presented by the HiberNATION Festival of the Lo-fi this will be a wonderful, weird, inventive and ultimately comforting musical unboxing session…

In 8 simultaneous live streams EO will perform an “Arty Unboxing” of Care Packages prepared by mystery composers.

The mystery composers are right now preparing these packages and sending them to EO, who will open them and perform the contents live on stream. Will they play, sing, read, dance or just knit? We don’t know but it will be fun to find out. And you will become the conductor, switching the windows on and off to  create your own version of this curious sound happening.

City Sounds (Folly – Outside Wintergarden)

By

City Sounds is Australia’s largest and longest-running free live music program. Every single week we turn ordinary urban spaces into music venues for artists to share their voices with the public. Every week expect to hear anything from jazz and funk to electro and indie ringing out from Queen Street Mall, Post Office Square, Reddacliff Place and other locations in the CBD. It’s like a boutique music festival that never ends – there’s always someone new to discover. Check out our Gig Guide page to see who is landing on our outdoor stages this week.

Piano Recital: Edward Neeman

By

Australian-American pianist Edward Neeman has performed across five continents appearing as soloist with the Prague Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Kentucky Symphony, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and the American West Symphony among others. His debut album, Rachmaninoff & Sitsky, was released to critical acclaim in 2016. Currently a piano lecturer at ANU School of Music, Edward Neeman holds a Doctorate from the Juilliard School, as well as degrees from the Australian National University (ANU), the Manhattan School of Music, and the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati.

In this solo piano recital, Neeman performs the epic Ballade in G minor by Chopin, and contrasts this with a ballade by American composer Amy Beach. Polonaises by Chopin and Lizst, Songs without Words by Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn, and entertaining dances by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona feature on the program as well.
