Care Packages for Ensemble Offspring

By |

Join the famous art music ensemble Ensemble Offspring for an innovative online LIVE STREAM – SUNDAY JUNE 21st @ 6pm: www.hibernationfestival.com.

Presented by the HiberNATION Festival of the Lo-fi this will be a wonderful, weird, inventive and ultimately comforting musical unboxing session…

In 8 simultaneous live streams EO will perform an “Arty Unboxing” of Care Packages prepared by mystery composers.

The mystery composers are right now preparing these packages and sending them to EO, who will open them and perform the contents live on stream. Will they play, sing, read, dance or just knit? We don’t know but it will be fun to find out. And you will become the conductor, switching the windows on and off to  create your own version of this curious sound happening.

MELBOURNE GUITAR SHOW GOES ISO FOR MAKE MUSIC DAY JUNE 21

By |

Australian Musician magazine online presents a very special virtual version of the Melbourne Guitar Show on Make Music Day, June 21. Some of Australia’s finest exponents of the guitar and other fretted instruments will perform in isolation for Make Music Day Australia. This two hour plus Facebook Fest will also be promoting Support Act and its COVID 19 Appeal, which is supporting musicians and other industry workers through these difficult times. Please, if you enjoy our virtual concert, donate to this worthy course.

Our show will feature live performances by some of Australia’s finest musicians including Phil Manning, James Ryan, Fiona Boyes, Nick Charles, Jeremy Barnes, Lloyd Spiegel, Anna Scionti, Joshua Batten, Opal Ocean, Mike Elrington, Simon Gardiner, The Thin White Ukes, Lucas Michailidis, and Ben Kelly, with more names to come next week.

The Melbourne Guitar Show has a rich history of entertaining punters with live performances, demos and offering a huge array of guitar gear for the last five years at Caulfield Racecourse. While covid- 19 has put a stop to this year’s physical presentation, we hope that this isolation version on June 21 as part of Make Music Day will at least bring a smile to your face and encourage you to continue to enjoy the guitar. All going well, we hope to present a full scale Melbourne Guitar Show in March 2021.

Gunnedah Online Music Eisteddfod 2020

By |
Given the cancellation of most eisteddfods and performing arts festivals around the world this year due to COVID-19, the Gunnedah Eisteddfod Society has established Australia’s first official online eisteddfod! The Gunnedah Online Music Eisteddfod 2020 is open to competitors nation-wide, and provides an incentive for singers and instrumentalists to keep practising and performing.
In keeping with the government’s current restrictions, most sections this year are only for solo performers. We also have a great variety of special new sections for golden oldies (65+),  pre-schoolers, performers with special needs, sibling duets, Indigenous Music, and the fabulous ‘Family/Household Entertainment’ section where you can get creative with everyone in your home – and be in the running to win some great prizemoney!

All competitors will receive encouraging and insightful feedback from our expert adjudicators: Paul Jarman, world-renowned musician and composer, will again adjudicate the vocal and instrumental sections; and internationally-recognised trumpet-player, Phill O’Neill, will adjudicate the brass sections.
Visit www.gunnedaheisteddfod.com.au for more information – registrations close midnight Wednesday 13 May, with video submissions due 10-21 June 2020.

Youth Services West Wimmera hosts “The Lounge Room Sesh’s”

By |

This is a ‘from home’ challenge open to West Wimmera’s young people, online friends, family and online communities.  Your online contribution can be a favourite riff, a tune you’ve learned as a party trick ( might only be a couple of seconds, but hey it’s music!! ) it can be your band, a piano concerto or a guitar solo, you singing karaoke along with your favourite song. If it’s music, we want to hear it.

You can do Facebook Live, or pre-record and tag Youth Services West Wimmera along with two other friends, so you can challenge them to participate as well. eg: Leah Davies > Youth Services West Wimmera   @friendone @friendtwo
