Make Music on Coochiemudlo Island
June 21 @ 11:00 am - 8:30 pm
Celebrating and sharing the gift of music on the shores of the beautiful Queensland sub-tropical island – Coochiemudlo.
Join us in an unplugged, all acoustic jam session in the morning at Pioneer Park, located between the Curlew Cafe and the ferry terminal. All skill levels are welcome, just keep in mind that we need to be able to hear each other, even the quietest ukulele! The jam starts at 11.00am and will continue on through lunch to approximately 1.00pm. Audience is welcome but what we really want is you to grab your instrument and to join us. This is a dynamic community event, so we don’t know who will turn up until it happens!
Afterwards, we may see music spreading to other parts of this beautiful sub-tropical island including: beaches, parkland and invited locations, roving in minstrel style. In the evening there will be a free live music concert from 7.00pm – 8.30pm.
Coochiemudlo means “red rock” in the original Goenpul language. Access to this small and beautiful island is by a regular ferry service from Victoria Point. This location is serviced by public transport and is only 32km from Brisbane. Visitors are reminded to respect the local fauna and flora. Birdlife regularly visit public spaces and the island habitat is home to dugong, curlew, kingfisher and sea eagles. Balancing and managing human impact is an ongoing challenge. The island’s beauty is cherished, with many volunteers dedicated to its care and preservation. Please join with us, sharing these same values of respect.
